The story behind LeavePro
I've spent over 25 years building software. Most of that time was spent writing systems for large companies, but the idea for LeavePro started from a simple chat with a friend.
She was explaining how much of a headache it was to track leave, even in a small business with just a few employees. She was managing a constant stream of "how many days do I have left?" WhatsApp messages, back-and-forth emails, and a leave spreadsheet that was becoming more fiction than fact.
I realized that most tools on the market were either too complicated or they completely ignored South African labour laws. I decided to build a straightforward alternative that handles leave admin, so business owners can focus on their actual work.
The "Great Timing" of our 2020 launch
I had set our launch date in advance. As it turned out, the universe had a sense of humour and that date was the exact day South Africa went into its first national lockdown.
It was not exactly the grand opening I had planned, but the sudden shift to remote work made it clear that digital tools were no longer just a "nice to have". Since that day, we have helped hundreds of local companies move their leave management into the modern era.

We're a small team, but I like to think we can provide great service because the system is designed to be so easy to use. Since the software handles the heavy lifting, it gives us more time to get to know our customers and answer the phone when you call.
